2018 October 30, TuesdayAfter the launching of the 3rd volume of Bible in sign language (The Gospel of Luke), we have already begun the distribution in the country’s main cities, where there are organized deaf community groups.
The first step was in Gyumri, Shirak Region at noon, and later to Vanadzor, Lory Region. It is really joy to meet this people to share their joy and satisfaction, by receiving Bible in sign language and getting special attention that they are not forgotten people anymore, as A. Kapoudjian, BS Armenia Project Director, mentioned in his speech during these meetings.
Artyom wished to attend this meeting with his family, with Luiza, his wife and four years old daughter, Nare, who was asking her father if the DVD belongs to her. Really it was amazing to feel their joy, which fills us with more strength to work for this people. Donara, whose two sons and her grandson are deaf, shared her emotions. ‘’ I took my sons to Yerevan, to special school… It was the 2 heaviest days of my life. While I came back to home I was crying and thinking how to learn this language, when every letter has a sign, imagine what a hell to try to use a word, even a sentence, how many signs should I learn and use! But for the sake of my sons I’ve learnt this unique language, and now I feel myself satisfied that I can contact my grandson! You made us happy today, by bringing the Bible. It is translated into the sign language, and I will not have another difficulty to translate the Bible for him. It’s already done.’’
Arshaluys, Tatev and Elya expressed the delight as well. They knew a few about the Bible stories, ‘’hearing’’ some narratives from their grandparents, but now as mothers, they have their own, they don’t need any help by others, they will be able ‘’to read’’ and to narrate for others. Arshaluys, whose face was full of smile from the very beginning of the meeting, stated; ‘’You have done a great job for us. First you brought us the Word of God, and second, you brought us the Bible in a language that we understand.’’
During the meeting the community people also received some hygienic things from the church, by the social workers, who thanked the BS Armenia, for this created opportunity, to meet this lovely people.
To bring together the Church people and Deaf Community members around the Word of God is also the BS’s mission as well!
